Club Reports

Round four of the BSMA Bridgestone Series took place at Warmington Lane with a perfectly prepared track.

Unfortunately by late Saturday afternoon the weather changed for the worse and going into the third block after the Novice/ Vets race the the meeting had to be abandoned for the day.

With the weather forecast good for Sunday and water draining from the track well, the organising committee were hoping to continue with the meeting on Sunday.

However, again with rain coming down during the night and also again on Sunday morning the committee had no other option but to cancel for safety reasons.

On the Saturday first to take to the track was the Vets/ Novice class this was the only class that managed to get three races in before the rain came.

Novice rider Neil Davies took the overall from red plate holder Jack Smith, with a win in the opener and two seconds.

Smith earned two wins and a fourth to take second spot from wild card, as Rob Shem, Ben Gardner and Jake Nicholls completed the top five positions.

The Veteran class was dominated by red plate holder, Simon Bracey who took all three wins. Only five-points separated the next three positions with Jason Gillett taking second from John Gauntlett and Gary Mason third and fourth respectively, with Gary Jones completing the top five.

The AMX/ Open class had their third moto red flagged for safety reasons as Zac Stealey and Harry Linton finished on equal points with both having a win and a second.

So top spot went to Zac Stealey with a win in the second race. Darren Webster and Jake Ford also finished on equal points, so it came down to the second race for positions and Webster took the better position from Ford with Ben Bird fifth.

The Open Class was dominated by fast-gating Chris Grindle ahead of Alan Pearce with third to Andy Fitzgerald. Nathan Bache was fourth ahead of Lee Powell.

The Auto riders headed to the very demanding track with relish. Freddie Bartlett posted two wins as red plate holder Shaun Mahoney recorded two second places.

Freddie Gardner was third from wild card entry, Danny Webster, ahead of Kieran Paget.

There were battles all day between the top two Junior 65cc riders and both finished on the same points, which resulted in Keelan Hope tying top spot from red plate holder, Tyler Smith.

Third was Tom Goodfellow with Ben Humphries fourth and a consistant Jack Viner fifth. The SMW 85 produced some brilliant racing with first and second finishing on joint points and first place eventually going to wild card rider Ollie Davidson, who took the final moto win from Red Plate holder Ben Watkins.

Consistent riding from Ethan Sills earned the third spot.

The BW85 class produced some exciting racing between Joel Rizzi and Callum Beeken.

Close on Beekens tail was Billy Jones who posted a brace of thirds. Marshall Smith finished equal on points with Thomas Casbeard in fourth and fifth respectively.

With two straight wins Owen Woodhouse extended his advantage at the top of the Senior points table.

Next was Jack Samuel who finished on joint points with Dean Palmer but Samuels higher finish in the final moto gave him the second spot ahead of Palmer.

Senior Open turned into a scrap between wildcard Deon Thomas and second placed Brooklyn Evans.

With a win and a third place apiece the pair finished on joint points with Thomas in top spot, from Evans, with John Mckenzie third.
