Report: Guisborough DMCC Fancy Dress Trial

Whitby rider Andy Chilton finished 2015 with a flourish, winning Guisborough DMCs Boxing Day Fancy Dress trial at their Charlton practice ground by three marks from 2015 Scott victor Ian Austermuhle.
The Guisborough crew pulled out all the stops in atrocious conditions and got it spot on for the hardy bunch of 60 riders and observers needed their tot of whisky to keep them going but the top three experts, ‘Chilly' Austermuhle and Tom Affleck brightened proceedings.
With sections eased it proved tight in every class and the slippy roots of Cec Tate's grabbed fives off the first three riders, Cloburn's Phil Clough, Richard Mee and Andrew Dale, while plumber Dave Almack tangled with a bigger pipe than he is used to on section nine, when it flipped him over the bars. The fourth hazard also stopped Chilton's clean sheet. Resplendant in new black riding gear and in great form, he didn`t really need a front wheel in the AM Honda, as he popped it onto the back wheel every chance he got and it worked, just the solitary dab. Austy dropped off the pace on the awkward adverse of seven as did James Carr and Russ Rooksby and Affleck blew the win with a five first lap – his only loss – on the twisting section six.
Flipped
Alan Carr has taken to the new Scorpa superbly, doing well to come back from 10 lost on the dreaded fourth to steal the win from Andy Keel by one mark with Chris Brown a further mark down, as Darren Johnson and Greg Winspear bettered the Clerk of Course Barry Overy by remaining clean to win Clubman B. Kevin ‘Sponge Bob Square Pants' Tate may have fared better if he had discarded the box sooner but he complained of letterbox vision and had to retire. A great day's sport under difficult conditions.
