Report: Ringwood MCC
By Andy Withers on 7th Jul 16
Ringwood MC staged its final Summer Series Trial on the Somerley Estate at the weekend, when 45 riders took the challenge of four laps of a tough eight section course.
Ben Skinner and Brian Francis renewed their rivalry for top spot in the Experts.
Ben won by ten marks from Brian who started more slowly planning sections carefully and giving fellow riders the benefit of his experience.
Brian showed brilliance, particularly, on the last lap when he cleaned section six.
Graham Hickman continued his great form in the Clubman class winning by nine marks to take the series overall.
Matt Sleep swapping from his TLR Twin-shock finished second ahead of Steve Bryant.
Parts of the trial were a ‘twin-shock nightmare' with tight turns expecting excellent lock, some bunny hopping and manhandling of machinery, which is not so easy on the heavier bikes.
The Twin-shock B team circulated together offering advice on lines and tactics. TLR Honda-mounted Andy Walker and James Hillier finished first and third, with Geoff Guy on his Ossa, second. Geoff won the series overall.
Michael Jarrett led home the Twin-shock C class beating Ian Guy by a single mark with Al Ranger third.
Lance Rustall won the competitive Novice class cleaning the first and four
laps and only dropping nine marks in total.
Paul Rogers continued his good form with second ahead of Ivan Stainforth. Ivan won the series from Rob Allen and Paul Rogers
John Miles continued his dominance of the Pre-65 class on his Triumph ahead of Phil Jones on his BSA.
