JST Gas Gas rider Michael Brown, showing remarkable form after his serious knee injury, breathed a sigh of relief at Scarborough DMCs Winter trial on Sunday, as he held on to a one-mark victory over fellow JST teamster Dan Peace.
Dan's younger brother Jack screamed his 125cc Gasser up the gigantic steps into third, just four marks behind the winner.
The entry of more than 80 riders had plenty to go at around Harwood Dale, on a bitterly cold day.
On the first section, the Cloburn-sponsored duo of Tom Affleck and Jack Peace produced the best rides on two, while the wickedly angled rock exiting the river on the second saw Brown and Peace click into gear, with six lost each.
At ‘Top Rocks' observer Harold Wilson was slowly turning a soft shade of purple in the biting wind but young Peace brought the colour back to his cheeks with some spirited attacking rides to match Brown on two lost.
He even fired in a clean last lap while Dan fived here on his final visit.
It was also tight in the Inter class as two old rivals did battle Mark Harrison edging out Harwood Dale's favourite son Gary Collinson due to a fantastic two mark ride at ‘Foundations'.
Stephen Bennett's consistency saw him through to the Clubman A class win from Scarborough's Mark Taylor, who lost ten on the third hazard to Bennet's seven.
Best on this one was Sam Fairbank on just four lost and Alan Williams excelled to stay clean on the first.
Experience shone through in the B class as Mike Kendra and Steve Kirkwood finished well clear of Brian Alcock and John Bullen – although the latter two have a few years under their belts as well.
Kirkwood did well on his Fantic, remaining the only rider unpenalised on the rooty climb of seven
