A night to remember

THERE was quite an event at the historic Lynn Ynn Hall, near Wrexham on Saturday evening. Steve Ireland had promised something special for the 2008 Motul and Michelin awards evening and he delivered in style!
The festivities began with a Mental Marshals' race. Numerous WOR marshals, both past and present, turned up to compete as regular competitors marshalled the marshals. All eyes were on Vinnie The Hitman' Jones, the bookies' favourite, but as the race progressed it became clear that Tony DVD' Williams had a great strategy and hounded Jones until the final couple of laps, then made his move to the front to claim victory.
With little time to spare, the hundreds of onlookers made their way to the paddock where the Air Raid FMF freestyle display team put on a spectacular show. Massive jumps, heel-clickers', whips and no-hander-no-footers' were all a prelude to the breathtaking fire jump' directly in front of the crowd.
The Motul and Michelin awards ceremonies for the 2008 season followed with virtually all trophy recipients in attendance and an especially big cheer went up for the Over 45 competitors Colin Jones, Gareth Lloyd and Ray Whittle.
To feed the hungry masses Steve Ireland had put on a hog roast, which was very well received it was free!
The freestyle team did a re-run of their display as darkness fell but the evening was far from over. Rob Lambert entertained the crowds with an excellent fire juggling display, which really had an added effect in the darkness.
Music and dancing followed with the occasional alcoholic beverage in what proved to be an excellent setting, a fantastic social event and great evening out, all paid for by Steve Ireland.
