THE YMSA staged its first winter trial at Dudwood Farm last Sunday where the day started off sunny but brisk.

The trial was set over of 12 sections consisting of six rocky sections in the wood, which proved to be a challenge for everyone, and six sections in the river.

Adam Jones started the trial at section one, which took him for a five, while the next rider was Ben Morphet, riding his first year in A class. Ben took the lead from section one but the pair ended the first lap even on 18 apiece. The second lap started with Ben holding Adam off by one mark, 48 to 47, while third lap scores up to section 11 had Adam on 67 and Ben on 65. Section 12 was the decider and consisted of a fourth gear blast up a bog, Adam had a superb ride to master it for a one point ride while Ben blasted his way through the bog only to fall off a yard from the end cards handing the A class win to Adam by a two mark margin.
