Colunists

THE Eboracum club will be staging its ever-popular Colonial National Trial on Sunday, February 8, next year, and regs for this event, which always hits its entry limit, ought to be in the T+MX Regulations Available columns this week.Coinciding with the regulations release is news that there will be a new clerk of course for the Colonial and also a new event secretary. Event organiser and clerk of course for the last ten years, Keith Ellis, hands over the top job to Mike Kendra. Keith steps down to assistant clerk of course following his intentions to retire from organisational duties. The new event secretary is Mrs Margaret Myers (not to be confused with the Wetherby Motor Club secretary) and Mrs Myers can be contacted via 64 Hambleton Road, Norton, Malton YO17 90H, or by phone on 01653-695954.
Next year the Colonial Trial will run under TSR 22B which is full NO-STOP rules and the sections will be marked to effect this rule.
The Colonial trial reverts to a full single lap 25-mile circuit in Rosedale, East Yorks, thanks to diplomatic approaches that have secured the use of Bottoms Farm which was not available in 2007. The maximum starter numbers will be 130. The first rider will be flagged away at a bright (hopefully) and early 9.01am with the rest of the entry following at one minute intervals.
If you intend to ride you are advised to enter straight away as the entry list fills rapidly.
Last year there was a cracking entry of both quality and quantity and on a sunny but cold day Michael Brown took the win from Michael Phillipson, making it a Beta double. Gary Collinson was the top Inter and Liam Robinson the leading Clubman.
