The picturesque Langton Lees Farm in Duns, Berwickshire, played host to an utterly compelling and totally thrilling round seven of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship. The host club brought the best riders in Britain to one of Scotland's finest gems and produced a wonderful event that befitted the crowning of three Maxxis British Champions.

MX2 gave the bumper crowd some proper hard racing, with no rider giving an inch in pursuit of glory.

The day began with Jake Nicholls on his HM Plant KTM nicking pole in Q1 before series leader, Arnaud Tonus, blitzed to a SuperPole lap time of 2:25.211, a clear 2.7 seconds ahead of hot streaking Bryan MacKenzie riding an LPE Kawasaki.

Race one was a delight to watch as scraps reigned throughout. Elliott Banks-Browne broke into a useful lead ahead of Mel Pocock, Bryan MacKenzie and Arnaud Tonus.

Jake Nicholls and Neville Bradshaw were in a heap on the first race corner but scored fifth and sixth respectively scoring points that went long way to putting the pair on the box at the day's end.

'EBB' tried to bolt away at the front but Tonus quickly moved from fourth to second. Mel Pocock lost an excellent chance of third with a crash two laps from the flag.

Tonus, with an eye on the title, moved to strike with three-laps to go and Elliott simply had no answer. 'Bry Mac' picked up a tremendous third after a ding-dong battle with Mattis Karro, but both Karro and MacKenzie missed the podium due to problems later in the day.

Karro crashed heavily in race three and 'Bry Mac' had his moto two ruined by a dislodged coolant hose. The rest of the day belonged to Tonus.

'EBB' crashed hard at the start of race two and despite grabbing sixth in the moto and fighting hard in race three, his title challenge was blighted by injury.

Tonus was at the heart of a classic heat two. 'Bry Mac' led until his bike stopped on lap-five leaving Nicholls in front with Messrs Pocock, Bradshaw, Karro and Tonus all in tow.

Tonus can add determination to his growing list of attributes as he carved past the three in front and hounded Nicholls for several laps.

Jake was in fine form but a small mistake on the final lap let in the classy Swiss runner and gave him another race win. Bradshaw grabbed third at the flag.

Heat three became a Tonus Championship benefit as the Dixon Yamaha star amassed enough points to be crowned British MX2 champ at the first attempt.

The Swiss ridwer gave the Scottish faithful an exhibition of grace and style as he scored his first triple race win of the season and duly walked away a deserved champion.

A real gentleman, Tonus, will be very welcome in next year's series. For the record Jake Nicholls secured fourth in the race and second on the day despite not being happy with himself and Maunders Honda runner, Neville Bradshaw, bagged a fantastic third overall.

MX1 welcomed back home hero Billy MacKenzie to the ranks after a two-year sojourn racing in Australia. Billy, riding an LPE Kawasaki, upset the regulars with a stunning SuperPole lap but put himself in the midst of the title race between PAR Honda's Brad Anderson and Samsung Yamaha's young charger Kristian Whatley.
