WELL this is the one you have all been waiting for!The first round of the BSMA's Doodson National Motocross Series, the GT Cup 2011 kicks off at Wilden, Warwickshire, on Saturday and Sunday, March 26/27. The track has been totally revamped for the occasion to make it as exciting as possible, and to make the lap time longer. The paddock area has been expanded and viewing is now possible over the whole length of the track.
There are many changes to the normal format for this series. Included is a 125cc Two-stroke class for the first time, as well as both MX1 and MX2 classes.
There is an Auto class, which is also a first for the BSMA, which reflects the advances made to these machines in recent years. This has been sponsored by Husqvarna UK and will be known as the ‘Husqvarna Auto Challenge. The series winner will receive a supported ride on a Husqvarna 65 in 2012.
The BSMA and Golden Tyre have put this series together for the riders. There are many sponsors that have come on board with the sole intention of putting something back into the sport. This is the series that puts the rider first, whether youth or adult the organisers are sure that everyone will enjoy it.
Unfortunately, due to problems at Mepal Moto Parc, there is an enforced change of venue for the second round, in April.
This will now take place at Wildtracks, Chippenham, near Newmarket, Suffolk (Postcode CB8 7QJ).
As this is only a short distance from the original venue, it is hoped this will not cause any inconvenience to riders and their families.
The BSMA has used this popular venue many times in the past and look forward to a superb meeting there.
