THE 2007 FIM Conference Meetings took place on February 15/18, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, near Geneva Airport. The Management Council convened on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 and the afternoon of Sunday 18.
The following points discussed are relevant to trials.
As expected, the round of the 2007 Indoor World Championship scheduled to run in Buenos Aires, on March 10, has been officially cancelled by the promoter Octagon/ Esedos and ratified by the FIM. The 2007 series will now comprise eight rounds with just two still to run, Mahon (Menorca) this weekend and Madrid (Spain) on March 17.
Still on Indoors, in fairness to the riders, the CTR proposed to decide the starting order for the fixed riders by ballot for the last two rounds of the Championship (Minorca and Madrid, Spain).
A venue has been decided for the Indoor Trial des Nations, 2007. The event will be held on November 24 (tbc) in Alicante, Spain.
Finally, a development plan for trials in China is currently being structured. As of April, seminars will be followed by training camps and a round of the Asiatic Championship will be held in August in China. The trial industry should provide the motorcycles.
The last one is particularly interesting and one that we will be following up...
