THE fourth and final round of the GBXC Series (Great Britain Cross Country) will take place on Sunday, September 14, at Boreton Farm, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The high-profile event will mark the end of the series, which has been televised on Sky in it's first season.
With David Knight already crowned the overall GBXC champion and having to miss the last round, it will be left to the likes of Daryl Bolter and Si Wakely along with newly crowned British Enduro Champion, Tom Sagar, to battle it out at the sharp end of the championship points for the series runner-up position.
Lots of other classes will also be settled at the final round, including the very competitive Clubman and Veteran groups, several riders are in with a chance to take the coveted National titles and will be trying their level best to achieve them.
The rounds have been very varied so far with two fresh venues (Matchams and Monmouth) followed by one of WOR's venues at Berwyn Leisure Park and rounded off with one of Paul Edmondson's venues in Shropshire. All the races have been very well supported and professionally staged with race commentary and live results.
The Boreton Farm event will be held on the same track that Edmondson used when he initially ran at Boreton for the first time. This means a long lap, with the full motocross circuit and some interesting man-made sections.
The emphasis will be on fast and fun cross- country racing that will ensure all abilities enjoy their day's racing.
The TV crew will once again be there to capture the action.
The series runs with a rider's best three rounds from four to count and at the last round any riders are welcome regardless of whether they have contested earlier rounds. It really will be a chance for newcomers to sample the GBXC experience.
Entries are open now by visiting www.gbxc.co.uk and clicking enter online or by simply calling the GBXC entry line on 01543-370070 and quote GBXC.
The GBXC organisers Steve Ireland and Paul Edmondson have also confirmed that next year's series will be staged over six rounds with a rider's best five results to count.
The 2009 GBXC dates will be announced very shortly...
