Fresh venue for BEC opener

The opening round of the 2012 ACU Doodsons British Enduro Championship, the Abbey Enduro, is going ahead as scheduled this weekend, February 18/19.
rk of the course, Paul Edmondson, has checked the route and with improving weather conditions forecast for the next few days, has given the go-ahead.
Paul Edmondson: "The situation has been closely monitored by Harry Hockly and myself on behalf of the Mid Wales Dirt Track club. Recent rain in Wales has seen an improvement and a thaw in ground conditions. This new BEC venue is really good and will provide a top quality course that riders will enjoy and will be ride-able for all abilities with two top-notch Special Tests for all classes.
"This BEC round will be about giving the riders high quality special tests and easy access for support crews and spectators. The riders will not be gone for hours as one lap will take around 90-minutes with crews seeing their riders twice each lap. We will be catering for all levels of riders not just the Championship lads.”
The event is based near to the practice track of Saints Well, Abbeycwmhir (LD1 6PT). Starting from the same venue of Fowlers Enduro the event will utilise both Cwmcynnydd and Red Lion forests.
The aim of this BEC round is to provide riders with plenty of special tests and fulfilment for the support crews. Therefore the start, refuelling and the ‘Abbey' test are all located at the same area. This layout proved very successful at the recent Fowlers Enduro.
There are just a few entries left and anyone wishing to enter can contact Jess Hockly on 01686-626370.
