Good win Godwin!

ROUND three of the Pirelli/ BSMA Best of British Series 2008 was hosted by Cornwall SSC at Landrake Moto Parc. Near perfect weather conditions at a track prepared to the standard you would expect for a royal event all added to five programmed rides completed in style.
The Open class first day produced three different race winners in a very competitive group. Alan Pearce took race one ahead of Seb Osborne, Rob Lewis and Anthony James. These four riders were a class above a very good entry. Rob Lewis won an exciting race two with Seb Osborne taking the final moto.
Anthony James was very competitive but crashed several times whilst in the lead over the weekend. Second day entry Marc Gunter won both races but had to work hard to get in front and once there was never challenged. Alan Pearce took first overall ahead of Rob Lewis and Matthew Allen with Anthony James fourth but deserved more.
AMX were next to the line, and supplied the best racing in depth. Matt Gardener always looked in control with two wins and a second on day one ahead of Dominic Foreman with two second places and a win but mistakes were costing him dear. Daniel Smith, despite three thirds on the first day, really improved to take race four with a start to finish victory. Matt Gardener finished second. Richard Williams, James Cole and Darren Banwell all did well to complete the top six.
The Senior Group was next – who was going to stop Mr Unbeatable Connor Wakely? – no-one. Once in front, he stormed to another perfect maximum. Darren Webster, Alex Hussey, Harry McKenna and Ryan Pryer all headed
Third place on the podium in Big-wheel 85cc went to Liam Wright.
the young superstar but to no avail, Hussy, Webster and McKenna all taking a turn in runner-up position. Jordon Richards took second in race three to give him fifth on the day.
The Big-wheel 85cc class did not go as expected. The battle between Matthew Bayliss and Luke Dean never developed with two DNFs and a fourth place on day one for Bayliss but he recovered with two excellent wins on day two to help his series total.
The top three riders all finished equal on points with Dean taking overall first, with three wins on day one, despite a disasterous last race. Josh Brine and Liam Wright finished second and third respectively with some consistent riding.
Small-wheel 85cc saw Jordan Godwin taking a maximum and he was never headed once in front. Charlie Mills holeshotted a couple of races but was unable to
hold off Jay Thomas and Christopher Bayliss for the podium position.
The final group was the Juniors with Jack Wilson
taking top spot with some consistent riding. Austin Grey and Robert Yates battled in out for runner-up
position with Austin taking the last race following problems to Robert when he was leading. Patrick O'Neill, with four top three finishes, suffered a DNF in race three to drop him down the order.
Many thanks to the Cornwall club for all their help, especially the track maintenance, grading and watering provided by Landrake Moto Parc, Don Church (commentator), Vic Amor (finisher), Chris Tucker (series manager) see you all at round four at Tiverton.
