It’s been Super – now for Erzberg

Its weird to think that its March and my big championship of the year is already over.

The SuperEnduro series finished a few weeks ago and I've got a bit of down-time now before my next big race.

Although it was only a three-event series, it was a good one – it is just a shame it's finished.

The tracks we have raced on in this year's SuperEnduro series have all been different and challenging in their own way.

The track in Poland back in December wasn't too difficult, while the one in Spain was a bit too one-lined and really slippery, which wasn't the best for the old two smoke.

But the track in France at the last round was the best. It was faster, had more lines and was still pretty challenging.

When we all walked the track nobody really thought it was going to be too tough at all – but it's strange how things change when you start racing!

Taking your time through the rocks and logs isn't an option when you're either trying to stay ahead of, or catch, Taddy and Knighter.

There weren't too many riders who made it through the event without mistakes and even Taddy showed that he's human and ditched it a few times during the night.

The one thing that wasn't great about the event was having to get dressed up in some weird costume for the opening ceremony.

Along with David and Graham, who also got dressed up, I looked a right tit! But hey, what can you do when the organisers come up with a weird and wacky idea?

Our first practice session was late morning in France and the end of event press conference was at midnight. It was a long, long day – but generally a good one.

Normally finishing one place lower in the championship than you did the year before isn't seen as a good end to a season, but I feel like it's gone well.

The way I see it is that I've improved during the three-race championship, got a taste of what it's like to win, know I can holeshot against 350cc and 450cc bikes and have generally really enjoyed it all.

I've made some mistakes, but that's a part of indoor racing. I've been racing against two of the best in the business, which has made things more enjoyable.

Between them Taddy and David have dominated indoor enduro racing for about three times longer than I've been riding an enduro bike, so to finish behind them isn't too bad at all. At least I don't think it is.

Although the SuperEnduro season has finished for this winter, I still have a few more ‘indoor' races to do. I'm going to race a few of the X Games events, which will technically be outdoor races as they're going to be in open top stadiums.

I can't wait. Some of the riders who have raced X Games before have told me a little about it and it sounds like a pretty cool event to be a part of.

But I guess the big one for me this year will be Erzberg. It's a little way off yet, so I'm not over-doing the extreme enduro training just yet but it won't be long before the countdown  begins!
