Jack's set for a UK return
By TMX Archives on 15th Mar 13
I am writing this column from an internet caf in Spain after returning from the last of many good practise sessions with James Dabill.
We were at one of Toni Bou´s favourite spots. Unfortunately the man himself wasn't there but you can see some mental sections he has been doing and what has made him stand out from the rest.
If we had the amount of minders Tony has I'm sure me and Dibs would have been trying more of his lines.
I feel the practising I have done with Dibs and Jack Challoner is starting to pay off as I am feeling much better than when I arrived out here eight weeks ago.
A mention here for Dec Bullock, who has not long left school and been thrown into the deep end out here with Dibs on his 125 Beta.
He really gets some stick but I am really impressed with the good natured determined way he is handling it, and It is clear to see the improvement their "mentoring” has had on his riding already.
To make the most of the weather over here I have been out on the mountain bike a lot, trying to keep up with Dani Comas (cycle trials world champion) who still lives on bikes.
The tempurature here has now changed a lot from my last column where there was snow to bright and sunny and hitting 20 degrees which makes me smile as I hear my home town, Ipswich, has about three inches of snow!
The smile might be short lived as I am also in the internet café to book my ferry home, which to get there I have the long drive from Barcelona to Calais – a mere 800 miles. I need to get home to finalise arrangements for this season as the first British Championship round is only a few weeks away.
It will be good to get back and see my family.
I have been very lucky as there has been the F1 testing near Barcelona and I was fortunate to get a free afternoon and head over there and see all the cars and teams working to try and get fully prepared for the start of their season.
I went with my training partners Jack Challoner, Bradley Cox, Jorge Casales and David Darnes. We even got to go in the Red Bull Hospitality truck to chill out, a major contrast to a World trials paddock I can tell you.
We were also fortunate to meet Lewis Hamilton who was really down to earth and was happy to stop and have a quick chat. He even asked to have his picture taken with us...or it might have been the other way round, I can't quite remember!
