FOLLOWING his victory at the opening round of the '08 GBXC series at Matchams, defending US GNCC champion David Knight has been busy at his home in the Isle of Man readying himself for his return to the States and round one of the GNCC series. Having only competed in three events so far this season – The Tough One, Genova Indoor Enduro and the GBXC
opener, Knight has been busy adjusting to and setting up his 450 four-stroke ahead of the important GNCC opener.
"I've had about four weeks of solid riding on the 450 and things have been going really well. I didn't do too many events on the 250 this year because the 450 is a new bike, and I knew I'd need to spend my time getting it dialled in properly.
‘‘I'm almost there with it now and racing it for three hours at Matchams on Sunday was a great shake down.”
With the opening two rounds of the GNCC series just five days apart, getting a good start to the season is something Knight is hoping to do.
"Things were good and bad last year at the opening rounds. They were the only races I rode a 250 before switching back to the four-stroke. The first round is tough but I enjoyed it last year. It'll be a difficult event again, but I feel much better prepared and unlike last year I don't have any injuries.
‘‘There'll be a few fast riders wanting to start the championship with winning results, I'm just hoping for a steady result and no problems.”
Knight heads to the States on Monday, February 25, where he will spend a few days testing with his Red Bull KTM team before heading to Melbourne, Florida, and the start of the GNCC series.
