KTM at the double

KTM KTM won both classes at the Mantova Starcross as Toni Cairoli took MX1 honours and Jeffrey Herlings was joined by team-mates Jeremy Van Horebeek and Jordi Tixier on the MX2 podium.
Star-billing Cairoli took immediate command of the first combined moto, but had no answer to 250F-mounted Herlings in race two, as the Dutch teenager, without in-class opposition, took on the big bikes.
With both KTM riders virtually assured of the class wins before the final moto, they got a shock however as Evgeny Bobryshev came out on top of a tight third moto.
The Russian was the only genuine opposition as David Philippaerts eased back into racing after his late-season injuries in 2011, while UK legionnaires Kevin Strijbos, Marc De Reuver and Gert Krestinov were the best of the rest behind the factory boys.
Elliott Banks-Browne stayed out of trouble once to finish fourth in class behind the factory KTMs.Rui Goncalves sat out the season-opener in Italy after straining his shoulder during mid-week training.
