SCOTTISH youngster Hannah McLeod is set to compete in the 2009 Women's British Motocross Championship and a select number of FIM Women's Motocross World Championship rounds. This news comes after the 16-year-old secured the 2008 Scottish Motocross Ladies Championship title and also finished runner-up in the Women's British Motocross Championship. Hannah is one of the youngest riders to claim such impressive results in this category in the UK. She secured the Scottish Championship win after racing her Dennis Irvine DEC KTM 150SX around Scotland, and in the British Championship, Hannah secured two podium places.
Last year was amazing, explained Hannah. I moved up to the Adult class early last year, which meant that I was able to compete at a much higher level. It has been a tough challenge, but one I have thoroughly enjoyed.
The highlight of the year was competing in the FIM Women's Motocross World Championship in Germany. It was a real eye opener. I loved everything about it the level of competition, the tracks and of course, the racing. It has given me a real focus of where I want to be and what I want to achieve.
The ambitious teenager started riding motorcycles when she was just 12-years-old. After watching her brother ride, she decided that she would like to try. Once on board, Hannah was hooked.
In 2007 Hannah finished fourth in the 85cc Big-wheel Girls' British Motocross Championship and after her results this year, she is eager to compete at an international level. And if she can achieve results in 2009 a chance of riding on the World Circuit may be hers
Hannah's first National level race will be held at Little Silver motocross track in Devon on February 22. Visit www.mxgb.co.uk to follow Hannah's results throughout the season.
