Final MXdN line-up?
Steve Dixon is poised to finalise the British Nations squad after this weekend's Unadilla AMA National. The ACU team manager admitted in Loket that he favours a line-up of Tommy Searle (MX1), Dean Wilson (MX2) and Shaun Simpson (Open) with Jake Nicholls as travelling reserve.
"I feel this is our strongest team, and I will ask KTM UK to take a 250 over for Jake so that we are covered for all eventualities should anything happen to another team member,” explained Dixon.
Roger Magee reacted with some scepticism: "There's been absolutely no negotiation between the ACU team manager and myself as principal of the HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK team regarding the potential participation of Jake and the availability of machinery.
"Jake has been testing a 350 and KTM USA, who share the same sponsor in FMF and helped us at the Glen Helen GP, has said that we will have their full support if Jake is included in the team. We would be disappointed if the leading British rider in the Maxxis was overlooked for a second consecutive year!”
Jake Nicholls is currently just six-points off the lead in the Maxxis series, and of course Stephen Sword, who rode for Magee last year, was national champion.
