WHILE competition among home grown riders will undoubtedly be close at the sharp end of the Championship class, the addition of French factory TM rider, Rodrig Thain, will certainly spice things up at the Muntjac Enduro at Thetford this weekend. Making a one-off ride in the series as he prepares himself for the start of the WEC, Rodrig will be out to prove himself against Britain's best and will add a welcomed international flavour to the one-day championship opener. Contesting the Enduro 2 class aboard a 450cc four-stroke Rodrig finished fourth in the 2008 E2 class of the WEC.
Overseas riders to the Diss MCC organised BEC opener aren't new as over the years several foreign competitors have tried their hand at the rough and sandy event. Most, it has to be said, have headed home afterwards hoping never to see the place again following disappointing results.
As a former motocross and supercross racer, and now a WEC regular, Thain is more than qualified to mix it with Britain's best.
One other name that hasn't featured in the BEC before is new MPS Husqvarna rider, Aston Bird. Switching away from motocross to enduro, Aston will be hoping to get his full-time participation in the BEC off to a positive start and will certainly be out to make a good impression alongside team-mate, Si Wakely.
