Pourcel injured

INVITED to contest the final round of the Guadeloupian Motocross Championship in the run up to Christmas, Sebastien Pourcel damaged his shoulder and hip after a crash and, as a result, will have to rest at home for a month.Invited for a week in the Caribbean with several other French riders, including team-mate Maxime Emery and GP rider Jeremy Tarroux, Sebastien enjoyed the pleasant weather there and relaxed for a few days after a long season. He had a test session at the Lamartin track, on the day before the final round of the local domestic series. The French Kawasaki rider was leading the opening race when he crashed on the second lap.
Suffering with his left shoulder and hip, he was taken to the hospital of Pointe-a-Pitre where doctors fixed' both injuries. He had a quiet night and was joking when his parents visited him the following morning, a few days before his repatriation.
Sebastien flew back to France on Thursday, December 18, and was immediately transferred to the hospital of Aix-en-Provence where Professor Olivier Dufour was expected to carry out some tests and Pourcel was due to continue with his recovery.
Sebastien Pourcel: The crash was not impressive but I landed heavily on my left side, and I realised immediately that I was pretty seriously injured.
I couldn't move my left arm and leg, and it was painful. In fact it turned out that both my shoulder and hip were dislocated, and the doctor in Pointe-a-Pitre put both back in place. Now I will have to rest for one month, before I will be able to start practicing.
Initially my plan was to go training in the US in January. Now I've had to change my plans and will just stay in Europe to prepare myself for the 2009 season.
Unfortunately, injuries are part of our sport, and you can get injuries every day when you race or train. This will not change my goals for next season, and with the full support of Kawasaki I want to battle for the World MX1 title.
After our successful test sessions in Japan I remain very optimistic. I know that I will be ready for the first GP in three-months.
