SoCal unveils Maxxis Team

THE all-new SoCal Yamaha Motocross Team has been unveiled recently with 20-year-old Brit Danny Ayres being joined by two Lithuanian teenagers 16-year-old Vytautas Buchas, and 17-year-old Mantas Janavicus, 17, on a brace of four-stroke SoCal Yamaha YZFs in the Maxxis British Motocross series.
Buchas made a huge impression on the European Junior championship lastyear on a KTM 250 four-stroke. He won several races but was sidelinedwith a broken collarbone, and Janavicus raced a 250cc four-stroke Hondato runner-up place in the Lithuanian championship last year.
Danny Ayres won several races in the British AMCA amateur championshiplast year and knows this year will be tough racing againstprofessionals.
The team riders will wear the new range of SoCal racewear which is being reintroduced into the UK this year.
Both Lithuanian riders will use SoCal Yamaha YZF250s in the MX2 classin the Maxxis British championship and also contest the BritishUnder-21 championship, and in the premier MX1 class, Danny Ayres willride a SoCal Yamaha YZF450 and also contest the British four-stroke championship with the distinctive machine.
The team is owned and run by SoCal clothing importer Tony Petchell, himself an amateur motocross racer.
