SX on the mind

KTM launched its 2009 SX quad models at last week's Barcelona Motorcycle Fair.
The two SX models differ from the XC Cross Country' models that are already selling like hot cakes, in that they are fully dedicated to quadcross and are said to be ready to race' in 450cc and 505cc versions.
No specifications were given but the release mentioned Low weight in combination with wider front and rear dimensions, and ...reduced centre of gravity with the introduction of a newly designed fuel tank. So, lighter, wider and lower then.
The standard Ohlins shocks of the XC model are also gone and in their place a full set of fully-adjustable White Power units featuring high and low speed compression adjustability both in the front and rear.
The 450 and 505cc motors do not feature a reverse gear like the XC models, and breaths through a large airbox with easy filter access and a race-proven Keihin 41mm carb.
The photographs show QX size Razr tyres in 20x8-10 and 18x10-8 sizes on Douglas rims and the Magura front brakes, chromoly frame, hydraulic clutch and Magura handlebars from the XC models are also standard along with nerf bars and ignition cut-out.
Well it certainly looks race-ready, although the only single thing that serious racers will want to replace is the slightly down-spec looking front bumper. But if you can't argue one of those into the deal then you aren't really trying.
And the price? Wait and see, say KTM UK, but an early deposit might be worth considering.
