THE time has come once again to thank all riders, supporters and sponsors of The Docklands 100 Ride-a-thon' who helped raise money for Track KG5. Sunday dawned and although it had rained all night, the weather on the day was great, leaving the track in perfect condition.
A good mixture of riders turned up including mums, dads, sisters and brothers with plenty of riding for all.
Autos and Juniors were due to complete 50 laps of the circuit, which works out to be around 25 km – a long way on a little bike around a motocross track.
Youth and Adult riders completed 100 laps, although the adults and some of the older Youth riders had the option of the Enduro-X circuit as well.
The timed lap competition for the adults became highly competitive between a handful of riders, culminating in a thrilling head-to-head race towards the end of the day which left one well known Dakar rider shaking his head in disbelief wondering how he came second.
A few brave younger riders did the trials competition. A difficult section was set using obstacles on the Enduro-cross circuit that proved to be quite testing, especially on a motocross bike.
More laps of the track were then completed letting most riders reach the magic 100 or 50 laps as required.
The day's final hour was saved for the lengthy prize giving such was the generosity of the sponsors.
All participants received a certificate and many a prize, all while on the innovative Acerbis podium.
The end of the day saw a lot of tired, happy but dirty faces.
The organisers wish to thank everyone who turned up to show their support and to the sponsors: Acerbis, Motoden, Jim Aim Racing, DNA Creative, Paul Green Tyres and Kriega.com
The awards went to:–
Junior Trials: 1 Jemima Salt, 2 Danny Bartlett, 3 Zeb Bond.
Youth Trials: 1 Sam Bezzina, =2 Felix Austin Walker & Alfie Plumb Darrell.
Adults Enduro-X: 1 Joe Searchfield, 2 Nick Plumb, 3 Ross Redding.
A special award for the most money raised went to Danny Sultana.
