Two-tone talent at Wilden Lane
By TMX Archives on 2nd Nov 06

WHOEVER said it would be difficult to fill a top class meeting with a two-stroke-only field should have been at Wilden Lane on Sunday to witness what was a paddock bursting entry of riders for round two of the British Youth Winter Championship, hosted by Wilden Lane MXC.
Possibly the biggest outdoor off-road event of the weekend was blessed with glorious weather and a track in 'as good as it gets' condition.
Sam Wragg turned in a brilliant performance in the Junior 65cc class to take all three race wins in some style. Callum Cooper looked to be the main threat and was unlucky to bite the dirt in race one when challenging for the lead.
He followed up with two excellent second placings in races two and three. Max Acres with three consistent rides took the runner-up spot overall.
Yamaha-mounted Jamie McCanney and Scott Aldridge went head-to-head in the Small-wheel 85cc class. Jamie took the opening two encounters' wins, but in race three, however, Scott turned the tables as he blasted away to a lightning start and never looked back until past the chequers.
Jamie had to settle for second, secure in the knowledge he had the overall win.
Josh Spinks took an excellent overall win the Big-wheel 85cc section. In races one and two he held off the concerted efforts of Conor Walkley, Ewan McLaren, David Sweet and Christian Taylor in what was some of the best racing of the day.
Race three, however, was a different tale as Walkley took a thrilling race win and with it second place overall, with David Sweet in third .
