WITH the BYMX and all the other Youth Championships filling up fast, the biggest influx of new talent is once again into the Junior 65cc sections. Every year the older level of rider moves up to race in the Small-wheel division, however this year it seems more than the usual amount have been promoted leaving the void to be filled by a brand new intake.
Nine-year-old Conrad Mewse tested the waters at national level last season as one of those newcomers briefly in BYMX and BSMA competition.
At the opening round of last year's BSMA series at Matchams Park Conrad finished in second place overall as an eight-year-old at his very first attempt.
His greatest success however came later in the season as he progressed in the Elite Youth Cup. Sensationally he posted individual race wins at Landrake and Marshfield, each time beating the best of last year's crop of 11-year-old racers.
Conrad from Shepton Mallet in Somerset will still be just nine-years-old when the new Youth season kicks off. Nonetheless Conrad will definitely be one to watch out for as a potential championship winner this coming year in both BYMX and the Elite Youth Cup competitions at Junior 65cc level.
