TWO weeks into May and the Youth trials championship action moves from Derbyshire to the Isle of Wight this Sunday, May 18, for round five of the ACU Youth A and B championship series. Alan Downer and his Isle of Wight MCC officials run a double header, a Ladies Championship round on Saturday at Shorwell Chalk Pit while the lads, plus Joanne Coles, ride at Cheverton Chalk Pit on Sunday.
Local stars Chris Stay, George Gosden and Nik Read are expected to be at home on the terrain, but expect a replay of Bracken Rocks in both classes.
Ben Morphett seems to be able to ride any terrain, as does Ipswich Beta rider Jack Sheppard.
Jon Richardson (pictured right), Jonny Walker, Josh Maude and Whitby's Andy Chilton are rock specialists the bigger the rocks the better. Keelan Hancock will enjoy the short trip from Bodmin. Thomas Maddrell sails from the Isle of Man while Allan-Iain MacMaster is not exactly a local, hailing all the way from Lochaber!
It will be a big surprise if anyone gets a sniff of Richard Sadler in Youth B. Keelan, Joanne, Luke Walker, a rapidly growing Rob Waite, Jake Evans-Luter and top Kent Youth export, Chris Short, are the riders who will fight for a podium.
On Saturday, Becky Cook fights on home ground, and it will be a third-round battle. The SSDT heroines hit the island with intent. After the infighting at Fort William Donna Fox, Emma Bristow and Katy Sunter. Donna and Emma took apart world champion Iris Kramer and deposed unquestionably the talented non-competing Maria Conway.
Foxy is on striking form and her fight back for the Scottish crown puts her one up on all the rest, apart from Emma B who just improves at every outing.
The action starts at 10.30am on both days.
