Massive prize purse up for grabs at AX Tour

A prize purse of over 250,000 will be up for grabs when the Arenacross World Tour kicks off on January 6 at Manchester Arena.
With 200,000 set aside for Pro class riders and an additional 60,000 reserved for the teams, series promoter Arena Sports Live is backing up its assertion that the stars of the sport can earn a decent living though the winter months while teams can cover their costs.
A total of 12 teams will line up in January for the start of the 10-round tour with each fielding two 450cc Pro riders. Included in the starting list are teams overseen by three-time world 500cc champion Dave Thorpe and MVR-D Husqvarnas Mark Chamberlain who masterminded Britains recent MXoN podium finish.
As a team we really appreciate the support of the organiser as it means the more we put in, the more we get out and we can approach the championship with financial confidence, said Chamberlain. The fact that our riders have a very real opportunity to earn proper money is a bonus and we cant wait to get back indoors and build on the couple of wins our team enjoyed in the 2017 series.
Arena Sports Live CEO Matt Bates hinted at a series of exciting news releases in the coming weeks.
Well be announcing the teams and riders by the end of October, he said. Im thrilled at the calibre of competitors and managers who have already signed and those who have expressed an interest in being involved.
Were always happy to talk to new teams and I believe they can see the benefits of being involved as were essentially helping riders and teams to be financially secure and I dont believe any other promoter can lay claim to the same.
