Arenacross Tour Thomas Ramette

Double arenacross champion Thomas Ramette will be gunning for a hat-trick of titles when the seven-round 2017 AX Tour kicks off at Manchester Arena on January 7.

Ramette, champion in 2015 and ‘16, will return with fellow Frenchman Cyrille Coulon as SR75 Molson Racing Suzuki bids to keep a grip on the coveted No.1 Pro plate and cement its position as the tour's leading team.

"It's cool to return to the series,” said Ramette, who eventually took the 2016 title by 25 points after a hard-fought, physical and at times controversial series. "I've had an amazing couple of years with my awesome SR75 Suzuki team and I look forward to getting back to the UK and the cool line-up of arenas where we have enjoyed so many successful nights in front of the amazing UK race fans.”

Since taking his second AX title Ramette has enjoyed a stellar season. Racing against Europe's top indoor specialists – including arenacross regulars Angelo Pellegrini, Jack Brunell, Fabien Izoird, Flo Richier and Matt Bayliss – he's won the Euro SX championship and been crowned King of Herning, King of Stockholm and, just last weekend, King of Poland.

"Coming back to look for the ‘threepeat' is something special and I do this with the professional respect it deserves,” added the 25-year-old. "I will give it my all while having fun with some good racing and great Pro class competition.”

While his form heading into the New Year ensures he should start as favourite the

competition will be fierce with former AX champions Adam Chatfield and Izoird among the top riders already signed up.

"Ever since winning this year's arenacross championship we fully expected to return

in 2017 to defend the title with Geoff Walker and the SR75 Suzuki team,” said Suzuki GB's Marketing Manager Rob Cooper.

"Last year was one of the most entertaining and explosive arenacross tours the series has ever seen. It provided a great spectacle for the crowds, it was great to be a part of the show and even better to come away having successfully defended the championship.

"It was also fantastic to clinch the team championship for a second year in a row.

Geoff puts together an extremely professional outfit and in both Ramette and Coulon we have two riders capable of fighting for the title again.”
