A fourth-place finish in the Main Event of the seventh round of the 2024 ACU Arenacross British Championship held at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena helped Stark Future’s Jack Brunell extend his series lead to 12 points with just one round remaining. Dirtstore Kawasaki’s dynamic French duo, Cedric Soubeyras and Thomas Do, ran 1-2 on the night while Dylan Woodcock returned from his ACU-enforced concussion suspension to finish a superb third.
There was bad news for FUS Marsh Geartec Husqvarna’s Harri Kullas who had been the man on form heading into Birmingham and he’d pulled to within a point of the series lead. However, a crash in his second heat race put him out for the evening and he was unable to add to his series total although he still has a 10-point advantage over third-placed Justin Bogle (Stark Future).
The series now takes a three-week break before Wembley’s OVO Arena hosts the series finale where Windsor-based Brunell looks likely to sew things up. It’s likely to be an emotional night for the indoor specialist who, if he wins, will make history as the first Pro champion to take a title on an electric motorcycle. With the race being on home soil he’s unlikely to hold back though and with his friends and family in the crowd, he’ll be looking to end the season on top of the podium.
Tickets for the final race of the series that has also visited Bolesworth, Manchester, Belfast and Aberdeen are available now at arenacrossuk.com.
