ACU British Enduro Championship under new management
By Team TMX on 15th Mar 23
You may or may not have heard that late last year the ACU decided it’d be a good plan to employ – the term ‘employ’ may be a bit loose – a series manager to oversee the British Enduro Championship. A good few months on, it was announced (and not by the ACU by the way) that lifelong enduro enthusiast Neil Hawker had got the job which is a huge positive for the series as a whole.
“After years of competing in the British Enduro Championship I have got to the point where I can give something back to the sport I love, and have taken on the role of series manager,” explained Neil who has a solid background in the sport and event production in-between starring on Bike World TV and rescuing cats from trees.
“British Enduro is at a high point with both male and female World Champions and ISDE winners, but we can’t take our foot off the gas when it comes to our national series and bringing on the future of our sport.
“My goals are to standardise and bring a professional element to the rounds, bring the championship in line with World-level competition whilst having a platform to bring on the youth and up-and-coming riders.
“I am not trying to reinvent the wheel but want to embrace the things that excited me when I was riding and to make every rider, family member and spectator feel excited about the events.
“I will be the liaison between the riders, clubs and the ACU while looking for new venues, clubs, and sponsors as well as helping the existing organising clubs.”
Neil has a tall task ahead of him but if anyone has the tenacity, skills and motivation to get it done it’s this man and he has TMX’s full support. Good luck and don’t fudge it up!
