Edge Offroad in at the Sharp end with new Sprint Series
By TMX Contributor on 3rd Apr 19
Edge Offroad will be hosting the first two rounds of their brand new Sharp Edge Sprint Championship, sponsored by Ripon- based Eurotek KTM this coming weekend, April 6/7 at the awesome Kilburn Cross Country venue near Thirsk. Each day will be scored individually so you dont have to compete in both days.
Sonya Jarvis, event director, has said: I have put an awful lot of thought, time and effort into making sure it is a Championship that is suited for anyone. At present in the UK there is only the British Sprint Championship, and a lot of riders can be put off by titles.
So we are bringing it to Club level for riders to have a try at. We did a test run last year to see if it is possible to run correctly, and for sure this has the potential to work, we just need the support of our industry to get behind it now.
The atmosphere is great for the riders, family and spectators alike, its certainly something not to be missed, especially with us using the live timing. Classes are set as follows: Youth (85-125cc), Novice, Sportsman, Vets (Sportsman Over 40), Clubman, Masters (Expert/Clubman Overo 40) and Expert.
If any of the faster lads do enter nearer the day, then Sonya has already confirmed a Premier class will be put on. Entries will be capped, so dont leave entering to the last minute! Trophies will be presented at the end of each day for the top three in each class, even the Premier lads if they do book in! Signing on will start both days from 7.30am, there will be a sighting lap each day at 9am, and then the first rider will start at 9.30am.
The riders will get approximately eight laps in a day, and there will be a lunch break each day. Sunday will run in the opposite direction to Saturday. The venue is signed with orange arrows from the village it is easy to find.
Nearest Postcode is YO61 4AL. To book in simply text the event mobile on 07557 447084 or more details and how to enter online are on the website www.edgeoffroad.events
