Enduro News: Kirton raiser for Edge Off-road
By Team TMX on 8th Feb 17
Kirton In Lindsey, near Scunthorpe, will host round one of the Edge Off-road Cross Country Championship this weekend, February 12.
The huge quarry-based venue offers lots of options for the Edge team to use, regardless of the weather conditions.
Great news is that this event runs without compromise even if it has been wet, this is due in part to the many raised areas and trails that are available across the one-mile square site.
The venue which has 450 acres of open going, awesome climbs and descents, and established 4x4 tracks will be the main offering on the day.
A great raised flat grass paddock area is situated in the middle of the quarry, which gives spectators a 360 degree view of the whole track.
Sunday morning will see the Youths first on track at 8.30am for a 90-minute blast.
At 10.30am the Novice, Sportsman Vets, Sportsman, Over 50 and Ladies will get underway for two hours. Scheduled for 1.15pm, the Expert, Expert Vets, Clubman and Clubman Vets classes will do battle over a slightly modified course, again for two hours.
Edge are aiming to put some tougher sections into the course for the afternoon event for those that are loving the extremes at the moment!
There are toilets on site, and the Edge catering team will be on hand again from Saturday afternoon.
Anybody that would be willing to help as a travelling marshal or as a foot marshal, please contact the club.
Championship points will start from this weekend. Overall standings will be produced after round two.
So start your championship on a high, get entered this weekend.
