Lyndon Poskitt finished second place in the Malle Moto class on a near-stock Motorex KTM 450 Rally.

Racing in the ‘Malle Moto' class of the Rallye Dakar is to meet a very special challenge, basicly you have to tackle the competition without the support of a service team.

All repairs and any maintenance must be carried out by the riders themselves.

Apparently, that is just the thing for Lyndon, who has been travelling the world since 2014 and has been relying on his own devices during all that time.

During his travels, the former aircraft engineer has participated in as many off-road races as he can.

Now, he has crowned this venture by almost winning a class of the Dakar, which will go down in history as one of the toughest Dakars of all times.

"It was the most brutal thing I ever did,” the 38-year-old motorcycle adventurer admits.

The rally covered a total distance of over 5,500 miles, all the way between Asuncion in Paraguay and Buenos Aires in Argentina. "And we experienced everything you can imagine: sweltering heat and icy cold, sand and mud, ice and snow, stages of more than 600 miles!

Never in my life have I crashed this often! "

But the plucky Brit survived all these trials with only minor injuries – just as his bike – and clawed his way to a sensational second from an initial fifth place among a total of 12 ‘Malle Moto' riders who made it to the finish line.

Overall, Poskitt came in 39th in a grid of 167 competitors.
