Enduro World Championship Steve Holcombe
Beta Factory Racings Steve Holcombe has won the 2019 FIM Enduro 3 World Championship in Ambert, France.
Holcombe secured the title by riding to victory on the opening day of competition at the final round of the 2019 series, claiming his fifth consecutive FIM Enduro World Championship.
In what proved to be a day of triumph for the Beta rider, Holcombe knew that an Enduro 3 class win on Saturday would cement the championship with one day to spare.
Holding an 18-point lead entering the French event he began the day cautiously but settled into his rhythm as he ended the opening lap.
Setting the fastest Enduro 3 time on four of the days nine special tests, in delivering a strong opening lap he maintained his class advantage and raced on to victory, clinching the 2019 Enduro 3 World Championship in style.
Despite 2019 being an illness-hit championship campaign, due to contracting the Epstein Barr Virus, Holcombe still took 10 race wins from 13 starts on his way to becoming a five-time world champion.
His 2019 title crowns Steve as Great Britains most-decorated Enduro World Champion.
Steve Holcombe: Its amazing to win another world title. This is certainly a memorable one. Its been a challenging season for me, so to finally collect the Enduro 3 World Championship is a huge relief.
"From dominating the opening round to coming extremely close to having the Epstein Bar Virus put an end to my season mid-way through the series, honestly, its been such a strange year. My goal was to defend my EnduroGP title, which I still have a mathematical chance of doing, but winning another Enduro 3 title after everything thats happened is something Im incredibly proud of.
"I have to say a huge thanks to my team, all my sponsors, my family and everyone whos worked with me this season, helping me battle through some difficult moments. World title number five certainly wasnt an easy one to win but its a special one.
