Lossiemouth’s BEC!
By TMX Archives on 5th Apr 17
The long-awaited return of the ACU British Timecard Enduro Championship heads to sunny Scotland over the Easter weekend on April 14/15/16.
Elgin Endurance Club host the first round of this year's series, near Lossiemouth, a historic fishing town in northern Scotland.
Barry Hamilton – head honcho behind the "Highland Temporary Works” sponsored Lossiemouth Enduro – has set out an enjoyable but challenging 35 laps with the added bonus of an extra-special test included this year.
Lossiemouth Forest will again be the base for the start/ finish area and also the location of the infamous and very scenic special test with its mix of soft sand rides over dunes along with tight, twisty forest sections and even a short section running along a beach thrown into the mix!
New for 2017 will be inclusion of an extra 3½mile test in nearby Birkenhill Forest which will link up to the Lossiemouth Forest using public roads.
With the added extra lap mileage and test, there will now be an extra refuelling out-check located as riders re-enter Lossiemouth Forest.
With current British Champion Steve Holcombe and Jamie McCanney both unable to ride this series opener along with Danny McCanney and Brad Freeman, it opens up the title race to some of the younger stars of the future.
Heading the chase will be current World Youth Enduro Champion USA GNCC XC3 class leader Jack Edmondson, rising stars Joe Wootton, Josh Gotts and Lee Sealey.
Also hoping to make the most of this golden chance will be flying Welshmen Jamie Lewis and Tom Sagar, Scottish pair Fraser Flockhart and Frazer Norrie, plus regular BEC contenders James Dent, Luke Flack, Jake Subacus and Charlie
Evans to name but a few.
Don't be surprised to see both newly-promoted Expert riders Tom Ellwood and Dan Mundell up there scoring some good points too.
Ex multi-Brititish Champion David Knight and former MX star Alex Snow could spring a few surprises along the way too.
All the normal BEC classes will be catered for including, Expert, Clubman, Ladies, Over 40 and Over 50. The start area will be signposted from the A96 & B9103 junction.
Signing-on/scrutineering will take place on the Friday between 10am-6pm.
First riders will start at 10am on the Saturday.
Spectators please note that NO vehicles will be allowed in the Birkenhill Forest, the club has set up a parking area (NO MOTORCYCLES) behind the nearby shopping precinct (IV30 6GR) and the test can be easily accessed by foot via a 10-minute walk along a disused railway line.
