Enduro David Knight Take A Look
Specially-built for Knighter at this years Weston Beach Race, Davids Suzuki RM-Z450 was put together by the hugely experienced SR75 Suzuki race team which is owned/ run by Geoff Walker who is well-known for his spannering skills.
The buzz around the RM in the Weston paddock this year was certainly easy to spot, so lets see what all the fuss was about...
One huge talking point about the SR75 Suzuki RM-Z450 was the 11.6-litre custom-built aluminium fuel tank. This is the first over-size tank built for the new RM-Z450 and the guys did an amazing job, said Walker.
The RM-Z450 engine was also completely stock for Weston as the latest generation RM Z450 is already incredibly rideable.
What isnt standard on the SR75 Suzuki is the gearing. Running longer gearing is pretty common-place for events like Weston where time can be gained with a fast machine on the long straights.
The gearbox is standard right down to the standard gear lever.
The team did switch to a Hinson clutch basket, hub and pressure plate as the Hinson kit is simply stronger and more consistent in tough conditions.
Rims, spokes and hubs are all Suzuki standard parts from the RM-Z450. However, a sprinkling of Acerbis parts bring protection and add to the good looks of the SR75 Suzuki.
The British-made Raptor Titanium footpegs are Knighter specials as Walker calls them.
Knighters pegs are 5mm lower and 10mm further back than stock to give David more space on the bike.
Up top the standard Renthal FatBar handlebars and lock-wired grips are standard.
The super-cool graphics were done by GP Graphics who have done an amazing job.
Knighters tall seat is carefully made to give him a little more height and naturally fit the bigger rider and bigger tank on the bike.
A race-proven suspension set-up is so important for a race like Weston.
The Showa HRS Forks and Factory Kit KYB shock are a sweet combo the team arrived at through testing with David on the Isle of Man.
SR75 Suzuki boss Walker added: As a team to be able to run the Suzuki RM-Z450 this close to stock and to work with David on the set-up has been amazing.
