2010 Maxxis British championship - Little Silver

The first round of the 2010 Maxxis British championship started in fine style for the entire PAR Honda team at Little Silver in Devon.
Current British MX1 champion Brad Anderson led the charge with a dynamic overall victory from three competitive races. Brad was made to work hard but showed true grit with his usual determined style to take the win by 1 point from Gareth Swanepoel.
Brad Anderson - 1st MX1
"Coming into the races today I was planning on getting into the top 3 in each race, but I tried to hard in race one and had a bad start and a fall. It was frustrating to play catch up, I pushed real hard and gained places but dropped the bike again which was becoming frustrating. I worked at it in moto 2 and came away with a win after passing Swanepoel and Bobryshev so I was really pleased with that.
I was coming into race 3 really pumped thinking I was going to do the same but a bad start again which I had to fight through the pack. I was chasing hard but dropped it on the last lap, I went over the berm with my front wheel, I tried to grab the clutch but it stalled and I had to try to bump it. Unfortunately Swordy went pass which I was disappointed about. I can't really knock it though as I took the overall but the starts are so important in the new race format of 20 minutes.”
Ray Rowson made a superb return for PAR Honda alongside Anderson in MX1 after months out with injury. The Shrewsbury based star took to the Honda 450 and recorded a 3rd place finish in moto one.

"The day wasn't what I wanted really, I didn't start to well in superpole but I'll learn from that. Race 1 was good and I was happy with that but a crash on the start put out of contention, I hurt a my leg a bit but its fine, I had a good start in the final race and I was putting in good laps but the moose came out the back wheel. I suffered a bit with arm pump but with more bike time that will disappear.”
In MX2 new signing Martin Barr showed great potential in a class packed full of possible championship winners. Martin stuck to his guns and walked away with a solid 3rd place overall finish.

"The day started well in qualifying and seemed to improve. I didnt get the best of starts in race one but I worked my way through, it was quite difficult to pass out there today but clawed my way back to third. Another bad start in race 2 but I kept fighting for positions throughout the race. The final race was better with a much better start, I was chasing Jake Nicholls but went down and Osborne went by me, I kept the bike going and went on to finish 3rd. First outing on the PAR Honda was good and I'm real happy.”
Luke Hawkins – MX2
Youngest member of the team Luke Hawkins looked outstanding in his first ever full season of professional racing. Luke battled on to finish in a very impressive 11th position.
"It went real good today, my starts were good and pleased with my race results, to finish one point off 10th place so I'm pleased with that. My aim now is to hit the gym and improvements can be made there and more bike time.”
After a great by start by the whole PAR Honda squad at the first round of the Maxxis British championship the team now head to Hawkstone Park for the annual Hawkstone International this coming Sunday March 7th.
