A step back in time

Alan Wrights Classic Show at Malvern included a special 1980 feature where an eclectic collection of comp bikes from that year were shown. Pictured is Cumbrian Chris Myers with his 1980 Bultaco Sherpa the very one on which he finished a fine seventh in the Irish World Round that year!
Chris had followed the fortunes of the bike as it passed through local hands down the years and actually bought it back just six weeks before the show.
It was in a hell of a state but the deadline of showing the bike at Malvern proved to be a real incentive to flash the spanners and paint brushes. The Bult even sports the correct period Pirelli tyres!
The bottom line is that, with family and friends joining the work parties each evening, the Bult was actually finally finished at the Show – with the application of stickers from Dave Renham. It really is, just as it was ridden in 1980.
