AFTER having its meeting at Horsley abandoned with just two races completed due to torrential rain the previous week, the North Avon/ South Glos AMCA group riders were able to return to action at Ford on Sunday.

In a meeting very efficiently promoted by the Chipping Sodbury AMCAclub, there was even dust rising this weekend as the entry producedsome red-hot, entertaining action. With the three blocks of competitioncompleted, only Junior, John Pozzoli and Expert, Lee Dunham were ableto boast maximum points scores.

The Expert Open group was first to tackle the Wiltshire venue onSunday, with the line-up boosted by several late entries which includedAMCA championship riders Clinton Barrs, Aaron Poolman and Phil Mercer, enjoying the chance to have another outing aboard his beloved 250cctwo-stroke Kawasaki. Indeed in the opening two motos, the abovementioned riders proved to be the main contenders along with GavinHookham and Richard Vincent.

With Poolman and Barrs scoring one win each, it was down to a lastmoto decider for the overall verdict. So, with Mercer a non-starter,Barrs quickly took control of that vital final clash only to slip backto third spot behind race winner and eventual overall victor, Poolman, and Hookham.
