What a day it was for Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha's Aaron Plessinger at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season finale in Indiana. Just hours after winning his first career moto, which also vaulted him to his first overall win, Plessinger was then presented with the 2015 MX Rookie of the Year Award later that night at the end-of-season awards ceremony.

The award comes on the heels of Plessinger also winning Supercross Rookie of the Year a few months ago.

Plessinger enjoyed a solid rookie season with the powerful Star Yamaha team but really turned it on late in the season. Through the first eight rounds, the Ohio native had zero top-five moto finishes. Then it all started clicking, as over the remainder of the season, he finished inside the top five in 7 of the final 8 motos. As a result, Plessinger finished sixth overall in 250MX points, leaving him as the highest-placing rookie in the 250 Class.

GEICO Honda's RJ Hampshire was the only other rookie to finish inside the top ten in points. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Chris Alldredge and another GEICO Honda rider, Jordon Smith, finished inside the top 15.

Plessinger will be back with Star Yamaha next year and will look to build on his late-season success.

"It's gonna be a great year [for Star Racing] next year with everybody," Plessinger said after his victory. "And with Alex Martin coming on the team, it's gonna be a really tough team to beat. We're gonna be up on the podium every race I hope."
