THE Sherco 125 has always been a popular model with Youth riders and naturally, ever since both A and B classes have been allowed a maximum capacity of 125cc right through until they are 18, the class has moved forwards in leaps and bounds. All factories have poured their efforts into development of their eighth-litre babies to the point where performance has virtually doubled in just three or four years.
The 2008 125cc Sherco can hold station with any of its rivals and now the Spanish firm has edged its baby just a little bit further up the performance charts with the new Sherco Academy Cup model.
This is very definitely a limited edition model and importer MRS tell us that although it now has these bikes in stock, supplies are scarce.
The engine, breathed on by ace tuner Josep Paxau, has been based on the bikes tuned for and ridden by the Spanish Youth Academy riders and boasts a lighter flywheel and specially adapted carburettor to give a higher level of performance. This ought to provide even more immediate throttle response and allow the little engine to rev even higher through the gears. Just what you want when you are aiming at the highest level of competition. And of course, being as this is a Limited Edition model, you want everyone to know that you have something a little bit special, so the snazzy graphics make the Academy Cup model look really trick while keeping the cool blue Sherco look.
The Academy Cup is available NOW from all Sherco dealers and the retail price for this bike has been set at £3,850. Malcolm Rathmell Sport emphasis that this really is a limited edition model and will only be available while stocks last as the factory is only making a small quantity available.
