CCM confirms the arrival of their first female rider. CCM Racing are delighted to announce another new addition to their ranks, with sixteen year old female rider Alix Dunlop having recently signed to ride for the British based team in 2009. Alix will compete in the ACU British Ladies Motocross Championship and the FIM Women's Motocross World Championship plus other selected events subject to her schedule allowing. Dunlop will be integrated into the main Grand Prix team and will work out of CCM Racing's southern-based workshop along with Tom Church, Jason Dougan and Ray Rowson when he returns from injury.

Like her three male counterparts Alix will benefit from the direct involvement of CCM's Sporting Director David Thorpe who has been instrumental in recruiting her to the squad. Dunlop has recently returned from Italy where she enjoyed her first test session as a factory CCM rider. Whilst conditions in Italy were heavy, the team and Alix spent their time productively to achieve a good base setting for the 2009 spec CMX250, which she will campaign both at home and abroad.

Speaking about joining CCM Racing, Alix enthused about making the most of this great opportunity. "As many people will know, we had originally made other plans for 2009, but unfortunately that situation was just not working out the way we had hoped. We knew David from having trained with him previously, so when he offered me the ride I had no hesitation in saying yes immediately, as I know just how important a chance this is for me.”

Dunlop continued. "Although I have only had limited time on the bike so far, I am already feeling quite at home on it. David is really easy to talk to, so whenever I need help I am confident I can ask him, and I know that he will give me the answers that can really help my career.  In fact all the team are great and have made me feel really welcome so I am looking forward to starting racing this coming weekend at Little Silver.”

On behalf of CCM Racing Thorpe added. "Alix is a great young rider who is not scared of hard work and one that could just surprise a few people this season. We are all excited at having the chance to work with her.”

Church and Dougan will join Dunlop at Little Silver near Exeter this Sunday for the first round of the MMX series that will incorporate the opening round of the British Ladies Championship, and will act as a shakedown for the two main GP runners ahead of the Hawkstone International on 1st March.
