Austin Forkner wants to prove he's capable of winning races
By Press Release on 27th Jul 18
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasakis Joey Savatgy and Austin Forkner will have to tackle hot temperatures as the Pro Motocross Championship makes its Pacific Northwest stop at Washougal MX Park. The duo are coming off a pair of top-10 finishes with plenty of potential to ride onto the podium this weekend.
If there was ever a time for a breakthrough race, it is at Round nine from the technical Washougal track. Forkner has proven over and over that he has the speed to run up front and is ready to make some of his own luck after having a string of misfortune. With eight rounds in the books, Forkner has claimed one moto win and an additional four moto podiums, but an overall has eluded him and hes more than ready to stand on the top step.
There have been so many scenarios that have kept me from claiming an overall this year, and I want to prove that I am capable of winning races, said Forkner. Were definitely developing character this year and Im so thankful to have a support system that reminds me that well get it next weekend. I want to finish the season off strong.
Savatgy has faced a similar fate to his teammate during the first half of the season, also displaying his ability to run up front but without the overall results to show for it. Thankfully, Savatgy is returning to the track where he claimed the 2017 overall, proving he can handle the technical aspects of the constantly changing circuit.
Washougal is more technical than you realise because you have to adjust to the shadows that the trees create, said Savatgy. Im sure well welcome the shade a bit this weekend with the temperature being hotter than normal, but its always something that plays into the later motos. I would love to repeat the result from last year.
