The countdown is here. In eight weeks time the best motocross riders in the world will board an airplane and head to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete in the first of two USGPs.

The Monster Energy USGP of Americas will be played out on a newly designed circuit, in the infield of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Dirt Track stadium.

A big line-up of American riders will be on hand, including all the riders who are in selection for Team USA in 2016. Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb, Justin Barcia, and Joey Savatgy, plus many more are on the start line-up. No doubt the American public will be excited to see their AMA guys going up against the fastest motocross riders in the world, form the MXGP series.

Tomac who is currently the fastest American motocross rider, and sits in second place in the American 450 championship will come to Charlotte and Glen Helen with a lot to prove after being beaten by the GP riders at the MXoN of the last few years.

"I am excited to add both the Monster Energy USGP events that are coming stateside in September to the 2016 race calendar.”

Tomac who has been a regular on Team USA for the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations will more than likely be picked again in 2016, meaning any mental edge he can get over the riders from France, Belgium, Italy or other MXoN teams will be important for his mind-set going into the Monster Energy MXoN at Maggiora, just a couple of weeks after the two USGP rounds.

Team USA rider from 2015, Cooper Webb, who currently leads the 250 championship in America has always been a big supporter of the MXGP and MXoN, and having grown up in North Carolina is very excited to see the biggest motocross series in the world turn up on his back step.

"Looking good,” Webb said. "I can't wait for a real MX series race to be held in the States. It's run so much better than in the states, much more professional, and they treat the riders with so much respect.”

Webb is also expected to be picked for Team USA after his strong performance in the 2015 version at Ernee, France and his passion for the event, not to mention his brilliant form in the 250 class in America this year.

With the complete Monster Energy Pro-Circuits team also expected to race, the young guns of Joey Savatgy, Austin Forkner, and Adam Cianciarulo, plus European rider Arnaud Tonus will be strong competition for MX2 hero Jeffrey Herlings.

It isn't hard to get excited thinking about Tim Gajser going head to head with Eli Tomac, or Cooper Webb going head to head with Jeffrey Herlings.

No doubt with the Charlotte circuit being made especially for this event the playing field will be level for both the AMA and FIM riders, which makes it all that more interesting. Anyone who loves motocross will want to be at this event as it will without question be the biggest motocross race of the year in America.
