An ORPAlly big adventure

The final round of the 2010 ORPA Welsh MX Championships, staged by Dredgers MXC at Talsarn, got under way a little late, due only to your humble reporter Simon Evans oversleeping! From there it was a great end to the season's Welsh Championship with the track prepared perfectly.
Top Expert class racing took place between Mathew Thomas, Andrew Gillet and Ashley Greedy.
Thomas was quick off the blocks but could only hold onto Greedy and Gillet for a few laps before the leading two went about the bar-banging business of sorting out top spot. Greedy took the opener with Gillett the second moto after Greedy got a bit too close to the end of Gillet's bike! The final race went Gillet's way once more after Greedy launched himself over the top of the wall of death apparently not having the brakes needed!
In the Inter-Senior class there was no panic for Anthony Manering as he collected the points needed to take the championship, this after rival Adrian Davies crashed out. Chris Davies and James Williams tied on points, final race result tipping James's way. Mathew "Twig” Williams nearly messed up his championship hopes with a disaster in moto one. He recovered well however to take the final race of the season in top spot from rival Martin Rossiter who was struggling to pass.
Garin Rosser has moved from 85cc to Youth 125, but without the bike, yet. Despite being well down on cc and power the pace he pushed the BW 85cc bike at in pursuit of Michael Williams was very impressive and it he will be one to watch on the 125cc machine in 2011. Callum Beeken has progressed impressively over the 2010 season and it was yet another unbeaten performance ahead of Josh Greedy, a result that may well have been reversed just a few months ago. Callum Watson took third place, well done to the little big man.
Cai Growcott could have been in Turkey sunning himself but passed the opportunity to clinch the SW 85 Welsh Championship title with a brace of wins. Connor Wilson made the unusual choice of moving class in the final round forgoing his 65cc results while Steffan Lloyd took the final moto.
Phil Hammersley took the Clubman Quad championship as young rival David "Afraid” James was a no show! Anthony James took runner-up on the day with Migel Bevan taking the overall. David Hammersley took a hat-trick of wins with brother Simon in runner-up spot. The Championship was about as tight as could be but early results point to the Bridesmaid finally getting his man! Luke Cooper was impressive as he pushed the top 3 Expert class riders while taking the Inter Quad class wins.
Ifan Burrel took the Blaster class from Scott Evans with Wyn Davies slipping to fourth spot behind Ricky Roberts. Dan Roch needs a new quad! Daffyd Davies took the 100cc quad class overall as Jordan harris dropped out of the late final round, Harris had taken the wins in moto one and two.
