Motocross

JAMES Noble on his Proppa STR Honda came out on top of a fantastic battle in the Pro MX1 class with Relentless Suzuki's Martin Barr and his STR team-mate Jordon Rose, in the seventh and final round of the Wulfsport British Masters Motocross Championship.

But Barr got his revenge for being beaten into second place in MX1 by taking two convincing wins in the Pro MX2 class, pushing the young Elliot Banks-Brown into second in each race, and second overall.
It was reckoned by pundits on various internet sites that it wouldn't be worth going to the track just outside Whitby, North Yorkshire, as it would be very wet. How wrong they were as soon after racing got under way on Saturday the wet slippery top was soon cleared off and for Sunday's Pro races the track couldn't have been in better condition. Despite this only 250-riders turned up compared to the usual 300-odd, with some of the key Pro riders missing.

PRO MX1
Noble got the holeshot at the start of the first Pro MX1 with Barr in his wheel track as they disappeared over down hill jumps, with Rose and Scott Columb chasing.
However, as they reached the same part of the track on lap two Noble slid off relegating himself back to fourth place as Barr and Columb took over the lead.
Meanwhile, Rose started to put pressure on Noble's new fourth place. A lap latter Noble had passed Columb and started to close the surprisingly large lead Barr had already built.

PRO MX2
At the start of the first Pro MX2 Barr made it clear that he was the man to be beaten, as he lead from the drop of the gate to the fall of the chequered flag.
Michael Phillips gated second and hung onto Barr until six laps from the end when Banks-Brown came storming passed him on his way to second.
New champion Scott Elderfield must have been sleeping, as the start gate dropped he was left behind in 14th out of the 20 starters.
However, by the second lap he was already up to seventh place, then he was fourth until the half way stage before being passed by Banks-Brown and following him up the field finishing third.
