Chad Reed raced to victory in the Georgia Dome, Atlanta, on Saturday night as round eight of the Monster Energy AMA SX series touched down in the Peach State.

The veteran Aussie – a two-time supercross champ – claimed his 44th career win with a commanding performance that saw him take the holeshot and lead every lap.

"This one feels nice,” said the 32-year-old. "Just to get a good start and actually do something with it was fun. This is not my worst stadium and not my favourite stadium. I've had a lot of good rides here.

"I've been struggling in the whoops all year. I don't know why – it's normally my strong point.

"They've kind of changed them up a bit, they're real close together and for whatever reason I haven't found a technique that feels really good.

"More than anything I think it was a combination of me actually riding good and the boys giving me a good bike.”

Series leader Ryan Dungey started fourth and within a handful of laps had moved past Weston Peick into second and although he reeled in Reed in the closing laps he couldn't get close enough to make a move.

"We got up to second and put a hard charge to get to that first spot but I was unable to make the pass,” said Dungey. "It was a great ride but Chad rode awesome too.

"It's good to build on the points right now. It is still early but we can keep building on that and stay solid.”
