Barry ups the Price

THE first round of the UKXC Forest Challenge kicked off on Sunday at Colstey Forest in Shropshire.
The event was originally scheduled for January 10 but the forest was under nearly three feet of snow at that time.
There was a light sprinkling of snow on Sunday but the ground conditions were good and improved as the race rolled on. Snow fell briefly as riders were half way into the four-hour race but stopped as quickly as it had started.
This long-standing event at this particular venue always attracts a good entry and this year's event true to form with plenty of riders filling the Solo, Two-man Team, Quad and Sidecar classes. The seven-and-a-half mile loop was along fire roads and through woodland, which was surprisingly dry in places considering the snow and rain over the last few weeks.
