BEACH PUR-FECT
By Team TMX on 9th Oct 15
Its time to get those sand racing skills sharpened up as the Purbeck MXC, in conjunction with the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club stage the 31st Annual Weymouth Beach Motocross this Sunday, October 11.
Despite another ridiculous fixture clash with the Weston Beach Race, the popularity of the AMCA bash is clear with entries simply flooding in.
With still a week to go, nearly 200 riders have already signed up to tackle the soft, Dorset beach circuit. Leading the start list will be all three of the 2014 winners – Jamie Dixon, Luke Oldfield and Josh Waterman.
As normal, spectators will line the promenade at this Georgian seaside resort in their thousands to watch the action unfold – all for FREE.
However as this is a charity event, the organisers would ask spectators and others to make a donation by either adding funds to the numerous bucket collections throughout the day or by purchasing one of the special glossy event programmes available.
All proceeds along with monies already raised from the competitors entry fees will be handed over to several worthy local projects and establishments so please give generously.
Practice for Sunday's event starts at mid-day with the first of six Unlimited races for Juniors, Seniors and Experts is due to blast off at 1pm sharp.
Entertaining the crowd in between the motos will be the one and only Mr Andy ‘Gorilla Man' Hobbs on his big red Honda Quad.
Andy has announced that this will be his last ever Weymouth appearance, so that's another great reason to get along to the Dorset venue and wave this Gorilla Bon Voyage.
Don't forget once the action is over you can then enjoy the fantastic hospitality that this coastal town offers with it's numerous bars, restaurants and eateries.
